Why We Created This Workshop

There is a need for more diverse nutrition communications experts in print, TV, social media and beyond! Both patients and consumers respond positively to messages delivered by dietitians who can translate complicated health messages in a clear, authentic, culturally-sensitive way. Additionally, many food and nutrition-focused brands and organizations are in need of qualified, diverse RDNs who are skilled in nutrition communications, but struggle to find the talent.

The DD community is full of current and up-and-coming superstars who have the raw talent, and need training to strengthen their media and communications skills. That's why we created this workshop with the help of nutrition communications experts.

This workshop is an interactive learning experience to train up to 50 current or aspiring dietitians of color. If you have some experience working in nutrition communications and want improve your skills, then this workshop was created for you. You will have a chance to not only learn, but practice skills like on-camera interviews, pitching to editors, producers and brands, creating video content and much more!

And we have that added bonus: You will be surrounded by the DD Community for the entire event. You’ll be free to learn and explore in a setting that is supportive, safe and inspirational. You'll create a network of colleagues who will be your accountability partners for years to come- partners who share your uniqueness as nutrition professional of Color.  

REGISTRATION

Similar one-day media training events for nutrition professionals are offered at a rate of $700 and more. Thanks to the support our generous community, we are able to offer this event at a more accessible rate of $250.

For a registration fee of $250, attendees will receive: 

• Interactive workshops in a small-group format 
• One-on-one and small group feedback and support from Speakers 
• Breakfast, lunch, snacks and a networking dinner reception with brands, nonprofits and PR companies
• Communications and Media Training Workbook with resources covering topics on: Personal Brands; Food Photography Essentials, Pitch Templates, and Media Kit and Pricing Services
